PIZZA PIAZZA

The Pizza Piazza, inaugurated with great success at Cheese 2011, will be making its debut at the Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre. The initiative is based on an alliance between pizza-makers and Slow Food Presidia, inspired by the well-established Alliance Between Italian Chefs and Slow Food Presidia.

During the event’s five days, 23 pizzaioli from around Italy will be taking turns to turn out the best examples of Italian-style pizza, prepared in the traditional way in a wood-burning oven, topped with San Marzano tomatoes, Campanian buffalo mozzarella, the Italian soft-wheat and stone-ground flour of Molino Quaglia and Slow Food Presidia products.

The same pizzaioli will also be holding 23 workshops (avaiable only in itaian) dedicated to artisanal pizza, recounting the story and culture behind one of the world’s favorite foods and teaching participants how to recognize quality ingredients and prepare their own authentic Italian-style pizza. Microbreweries from around Italy will be on hand to provide the perfect accompaniment.

The Pizza Piazza will be located in the hall between Pavilion 3 of the Lingotto Fiere and the Oval.
