Journeys on paper

At the Slow Food Café at the entrance to Pavilion 2, Slow Food Editore will take you on a journey of words, food, wine and spirits with some of its latest publications.
In the ‘Guides’ library: Birre d’Italia, an overview of Italian microbreweries, and a new edition of Guida agli extravergini, a guide to Italian extra-virgin olive oils.
In the ‘asSaggi’ library: La dea bottiglia. Racconti di assetati e bevitori (The Goddess of the Bottle: stories of thirst and drink), a new anthology, and La Fisiologia del gusto, an Italian translation of the great French gastronome Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin’s La Physiologie du Goût.
In the ‘TerraMadre’ library, reflections on agriculture, environment and society, Dalla parte degli ultimi (On the side of the last), the autobiography of Vandana Shiva, and Sementi e diritti (Seeds and Rights), by Stefano Masini e Cinzia Scaffidi.
A new library for children ‘Per mangiarti meglio’ (all the better to eat you with) will present its first two titles, one on cheese and one on chocolate.
Two major new publications will also be premiered: Dizionario della cucina regionale italiana, a summa of traditional gastronomy, the crowning glory of 20 years work by Slow Food to protect and revive a great heritage of material culture, and Osterie d’Italia 2009, the latest edition of the guide that, since 1991, has catalogued the pleasures of food, wine and conviviality.

Vini d’Italia 2009 (Italian Wines), a joint publication by Slow Food Editore and Gambero Rosso, presents this year’s Three Glass symbol winners: on Saturday October 25, from 4pm to 7.30pm, a grand tasting on the ramp that climbs to the former test track on the roof of the Lingotto building.
